Who We Are
The CornerStone Rescue Mission, established in 1981 in Rapid City, South Dakota, is a faith-based ministry serving homeless men, women and children. Our mission is to help the homeless achieve sustainable, independent lives.
We serve the physical and spiritual needs of more than 100 individuals every day and we've impacted the lives of thousands more over the years. Many of these individuals have gone on to lead fulfilling, independent lives, have been able to support themselves and their families, and have contributed to their communities in various ways.
We are a privately funded, Christian, non-denominational, 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization. More than 80 percent of our annual support comes from individual donors. We receive additional support from churches, businesses, civic and service organizations, foundations, and other grant-making organizations. We are not a United Way agency; however, we do receive funds through United Way when donors list us as their designated charity on their pledge forms. We consider ourselves partners in ministry with our donors, and stewardship of God's resources is one of our core values.
We are a member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions, an organization that promotes cooperation among missions and high standards of practice in gospel, relief and rehabilitation work.
We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. Ephesians 2:20
